CROSS-COUNTRY RUNNING

UNIVERSITY CLUB HOLDS ANNUAL STEEPLECHASE J. B. Parcell (scratch) ran an excellent race to gain fastest time in the Canterbury University College steeplechase at “Ham” on Saturday, when the students were the guests of the Rector (Dr. H. R. Hulme) and Mrs Hulme. Parcell’s time

was half a minute faster than the next best. G. Malcolm (2min) won the individual “title for the second year in succession. /

Scoring their first win In four years. Helen Copnon beat Bishop Julius by 34 points to 69 in the annual contest between the women’s hostels. This event, run over a course of about one milq, drew nearly 80 entries. In a close race Miss H. Grant (Bishop Julius) won fastest time from Miss B. Allan (Helen Connon) by only Isec. Results:—
