NEW ASSISTANT DIRECTOR
SIR ARTHUR NEVILL APPOINTED
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, September 26. Sir Artiiur Nevill. formerly Chief of the Air Staff, Royal New Zealand Air Force, has been appointed Assist-ant-Director of Civil Avation. He retired from the R.N.Z.A.F. last year, and is at present a member of the Air Transport Licensing Authority He is 53 years of age. .After attending the Royal Military College, Duntroon, Sir Arthur Nevill went immediately to serve as an officer in the Royal New Zealand Artillery in the North-west Frontier Province, India, in 1919. transferred to the Air Force in 1930, and served in the United Kingdom from 1934 to 1936. During the Second World War he served with the Royal Air Force in Coastal Command and in the Pacific. th? e A^ a c. a i poin i ed Chief of th ® Air. Staff m New Zealand in 1942, and Chief of the Air Staff in 1946. Since the war. Sir Arthur Nevill has represented New Zealand overseas on several Air Force missions.
