(New Zealand Press Association) « DUNEDIN, September 26. Tbe Post Office’s new “2VF” toll dialling system was brought into operation in Dunedin today. A Wellington toll operator is now able to dial a Dunedin number direct, without having first to speak to the Dunedin operator, and vice versa. The meaning of "2VF" is "two-voice frequencies”—of 600 and 750 cycles a second—whieh arc sent over the toll ll ne ' , One is UEe ° for control, and the other for sending dialling signals.
