Appointees will be required for training as operators of industrial X-ray equipment - and the use of radio-active isotopes for radiographic purposes on welded steel structures such as-. hydro-electric penstocks and steel bridge girders. The work includes darkroom preparation of films. No previous, experience in radiography is necessary, but a knowledge of photography would be an asset. Applicants must be prepared to shift from job to job as required. Initial location would be Christchurch. Salary up to £502 a year, according to educational qualifications, will be paid. 1273. 1265. MANAGER, LAKE HOUSE, WAIKAREMOANA. The position calls for a married couple with organising ability, ability to control staff, and both of good personality, able to mix with guests of all types. The Manager's wife is to take an active part in assisting the manager, and, in particular, with the efficient control and direction of female domestic staff and the care of linen and other property under their charge. The work of the Manager includes certain clerical duties, and experience in clerical work is essential. A joint salary ranging from £6BO to £770 a year will be payable, according to qualification and experience, along with allowances to cover (a) entertainment, and (b) overtime and penal time worked (no other payment being made for overtime or penal time). A remote locality allowance will also be paid. - A nominal charge at £4O a year will be made for board and lodgings provided- to the manager and his wife.
