OVERSEAS POSTAL CONFERENCES
(Now Zootaad Pre* Anociatlon) WELLINGTON. September 26. New Zealand representation by officers of the Post and Telegraph De'partment at international conferences was fully justified, said Mr F. Hackett (Ooposititm Grey Lynn) in the House of Representatives this afternoon, during discussion of the vote on the Estimates for the Post Office Account. U ever overseas trips were justified, they were ter these officers, Mr Hackett said. New Zealand ’was in competition with the rest of the world in some respects. If New Zealand were not represented at conferences to discuss the allocation of radio wave lengths, the Dominion could be left with very few. Officers of the department were regarded as international authorities in their particular sections, and during
. the Labour Administration, requests - had been received from overseas for i their attendance at conferences, Mr t Hackett said.
