REFINERY FIRE IN BRITAIN
(Rec. 830 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 31. An explosion rocked the AngloIranian Oil Company’s refinery at Grangemouth in Scotland to-day. Sheet flame shot from a leaking gas tank and spread quickly through the petroleum cracking plant Six men were rushed by ambulance to the nearby Falkirk Infirmary suffering from severe burns. Firemen from Falkirk, Grangemouth and the company’s own brigade battled to prevent tanks of petrol blowing up. , , . . . The affected area was isolated by cutting the supply pipelines. The explosion was heard more than three BQ After W fighting the fire for several hours, firemen got the blaze .under control, and prevented other buildings from being damaged.
