CLOTHES SHOP
STALLHOLDERS APPOINTED The Clothes Shop for the sale of high-class clothing, furnishings and antiques, will be held this year in the Caledonian Hall in mid-Septem-ber and the proceeds, as formerly, will be used to help the needy, particularly the blind, in and around Christchurch, and to some extent to help the blind overseas. This was decided at a meeting of the committee held yesterday, with Mrs Janet Williams presiding. It was reported that during the last year, supplies of coal, food and clothing had been given to the needy blind of the citv and suburbs, that three Greek children, who are blind, had been sponsored under the Save the Children fund, and that 16 cases of clothing and. food, as well as Christmas cake, had been sent to homes for, the blind in EnglandIt was decided to send Christmas narcels to the sponsored children and Christmas cake to the blind in England. Stalls at the shop were allotted as follows: —Men’s clothing, Mrs J. G. L. Vernon; dresses Mrs Ivan Wood: shoes. Mrs W. G. Scannell; hats, Miss N. Enright: children’s clothes, Mrs Vesey Hamilton; tweed coats and suits, Mrs J. C- Nev.’ton; furnishings Mrs H. F. Nicoll; antiques. Mrs L. A. Bennett; tea, Mrs Brie Million; shop manager, Mrs J. G. Collins; treasurer Mr Ivan Wood.
