TAFT INCREASES LEAD
(Rec. 11.30 p HI n O TGN. June L New Mexico Republicans last night named a 14-member delegation to the national Presidential nominating convention. Senator Taft’s supporters won a clear-cut seven to three victory in the battle for the lb contested seats in the delegation. Four other seats WCre hot contested, but Were Uhbffitially to be divided evenly bCtWebn the two candidates. .... . Virginia Republicans yesterday Chbse four delegates at large to the national convention,, two of them supporters of Senator Taft and tWb Uncommitted. According to an American Associated Press tabulation, Senator Taft how has 420 supporting votes at the national convention and General Eisenhower 387. Qn the Democratic, side, Sehatof Kefauver still leads Senator Russell by 150 votes to 86J for the Democratic Party’s forthcoming national Convention.
