Acid, flaming Oil bombs, bicyclfe chain flails ana sticks were used tb attack the police in Tokyb Natioh-Wldb reports put the number bf arrests at 125 from rn estimated 12,900 persons Whb tqbk part ih the demonstrations Ih Japan’s .largest tjitifes. Altogether at least 35 persons were known to have been injured. Three Communists were shot and killed when thfey attacked a police box at Itabashi. The demonstrations were staged on thfe anniversary of the “May 80 incident” of 1949, when, a Communist trade unionist was kilted during demonstrations against the ordinance forbidding demonstrations.
