‘GREAT CONtiUBUTIGN to world Peace* (Rec; 7 p m.) .WASHINGTON) May 31, President Truman to-day aeelaimed the steps, towards the military alliance of West Germany with the free nations cf Western Europe as a great contribution to world peace. The President expressed this view in congratulating the Secretary of State (Mr Dean Acheson) on his accom- 1 plishments in helping to wind up the West German peace, contract and the European Defence Treaty. . Mr Truman will ask the Senate early next week to approve the peace com tract and. an amendment to the North Atlantic Treaty extending the treaty s guarantees to West Gerfiiany.
