DRUNK MOTORIST FINED £30
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. May 30. For being intoxicated in charge of a car in Jervois quay on Wednesday night. Edgar Albert Graeff, aged 46, a cook, was fined £3O in the Magistrate’s Court. Wellington, to-day. Mr A. A. McLachlan. S.M., also cancelled his licence and disqualified him from getting another for a year Sub-Inspector E. M. Thomas said Graeff’s car had grazed a man working on Jervois quay. Graeff stopped his car. A doctor certified that he was drunk.
Graeff said that he had drunk only three whiskies which had affected him more than usual because he was tired and had gone without a meal. The accident was largely attributable to poor visibility caused by rain.
