VICTORIAN SKI TEAM

VISIT TO N.Z. IN JULY

When a team from the North-Eastern District's Ski Association, Victoria, visits New Zealand this winter, there will be interprovincial ski contests for the first time in New Zealand’s skl-ing history. The Australian team will also be the first overseas provincial team to visit New Zealand. The North-Eastern District’s team, consisting of about 12 skiers—probably equally divided between men and women —will arrive at Harewood by Skymaster on July 18 for about a month's visit. During their stay they will compete against the Southern Districts Ski Association (Otago and Southland) at Coronet Peak, Queenstown, on July 26 and 27; the Canterbury Ski Association at Temple Basin, Arthur’s Pass, on August 2 and 3; and the Taranaki Ski Committee's team at Egmont on August 9 and 10. The team, which will be managed by Mr Toni St Elmo, of Bogong, Victoria, who accompanied the Bogong Club team which came to Canterbury for the centennial championships at Mount Cheeseman two years ago, will leave for Australia about August 16 on the Wanganella.

CHAMPIONSHIP DATES The New Zealand ski championships will be held this year at Mount Egmont from August 31 to September 6. South Bsland titles will be decided at Mount Cheeseman on August 16 and 17, and the Canterbury championships are scheduled to be held at Craigieburn on September 20 and 21. On form shown in the South Island, North Island and New Zealand championships, it is at present intended to select a New Zealand team to race against Australia in the four-yearly inter-Dominion contest which will be held in August, 1953, at Queenstown.
