Say H, The New Zealand four-oa vl rowing crew to compete at the Olynpfc Games in Helsinki in July was anr aiaicad today by the chairman of the Mew /Zealand Rowing Association's sell ction committee (Mr A. Ross). The crew will be: E. Johnson (Aramoho, Wanganui), stroke; K. Ashby (West End, Auckland); W. Tinnock (West End, Auckland); J, O'Brien (Aramoho, Wanganui), bow; and C. Johnstone (Aramoho, Wanganui). coxswain.

The emergency will be H. McLeod (Poverty Bay). The official details of the crew are:— Johnson, age 27, weight 12st 21b, height sft loin; Ashby, aged 23, weight 13st 121 b, height Bft Sjin; Tinnock, aged 22, weight 1 14st 41b, height 6ft 3in; O'Brien, age 25, weight 12st 91b, height 6ft lin; and McLeod (emergency), aged 31, weight 13st61b, height 6ft Sin. The coxswain weighs slightly less than the Olympic minimum of 7st 1211 b. The average weight of the selected four is 13st 3 l-51b. The four was chosen from the five selected Olympic oarsmen after the New Zealand selectors had watched them in training on the Wanganui river during the week-end. On Saturday afternoon ana again this morning, the selectors saw the crew in action, first seated as it was finally chosen, and then with McLeod in Ashby s place in the No. 3 seat. A boat is being specially built for the New Zealand four In England, and will be taken to Helsinki early in July. Whan it is in England on its way to the Games, the crew will compete in the coxswainless fours event, the Stewards' Cup, at the Henley Royal Regatta. As the event is limited to club crews, the crew will start as representatives of the Aramoho Club, Wanganui. Apart from a brief break to visit their families next week-end, the crew will be training at Wanganui until the full New Zealand Olympic team assembles in Wellington on June 10.
