CENTRAL AFRICA FEDERATION
NATIVES “ALARMED AT INTENTION ” (Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, May 7. African members of the official Northern Rhodesian delegation who boycotted the conference among the British, Southern Rhodesian, Northern Rhodesian, and Nyasaland Governments on Central African federation, said to-day that the African people would inevitably resist the imposition of the plan. A document signed by all four delegates expressed alarm at the “apparent intention of the British Government to proceed with the proposed federation in spite of the unanimous opposition expressed by the African people through their official and unofficial organisations.” Delegates said they hoped the British Government “will be warned in time of the danger of the course it is pursuing.” African members of the Nyasaland delegation, who also boycotted the conference, are still in Britain. A nonofficial delegation led by three chiefs is remaining behind to continue its appeal to the British public.
