MINOR FIRES

Units of the Central Fire Brigade were called to a house fire at 6 Highbury place, occupied by Mr R. A. Putze, at 9,47 a.m. yesterday. The hall, kitchen, and roof were damaged. At 12.26 a.m. yesterday units of the Central Fire Brigade received a call to a grass fire at 314 Lake Terrace road. The property is occupied by Mr E. C. Law. The property is outside the Fire Board’s area, and the call was made through the Waimain County Council. A grass fire in a small reserve on the main road at the foot of St. Andrew’s Hill was extinguished by units of the Woolston Fire Brigade at 12.21 p.m. yesterday. The fire started in some grass at the side of the road, and spread to the reserve.
