Bail was allowed in the sum of £25 and one surety of £25. William Rawai Fitchett (Mr M. P. Eales) was remanded until May 21 when charger' with a breach of the Gaming Act in that, being an employee of the totalisator, he sold totalisator tickets to an infant. LIQUOR NEAR DANCE HALL Patrick Service, Harley Feary, and Graham Michael Poole were each fined £3 for being in possession of liquor near a public dance hall. UNLAWFULLY ON PREMISES John Stanley Watts and Patrick Prendevllle were each fined 20s for having been found unlawfully on the premises of the New Railway Hotel. CHARGE DISMISSED Malcolm Collingwood Price (Mr C. S. Thomas) pleaded not guilty to a charge of stealing a bantam hen and three chicks, the property of Mavis Verena Grant. “The man is not a thief. The charge is dismissed,” said the Magistrate after hearing evidence. TWO MEN FINED For casting offensive matter in a public place, Thomas Dwyer and Henry Bruce McDonald were each fined £2. CIVIL CASES (Before Mr F. F. Reid, S.M.) ORDER FOR POSSESSION Mabel Lilian Adams, a spinster (Mr W. F. Tracy), was given judgment In a claim for possession of a dwelling-house at 109 Brougham street, from Eric Turner and Jean C. Turner, his wife (Mr H. S. Tltomas). Possession was ordered to be given on or before May 30. The claim was based on an assertion that the defendants occupied part of the dwelling, of which the plaintiff was the tenant, only as licensees, and not as subtenants. The Magistrate said he was satisfied that the defendants had not at any time assumed the nature or status of tenants. SUIT FOR MOTOR REPAIRS Walter Alan Radcliffe, proprietor of the Marine Garage, Sumner (Mr W. G. P Cuningham), was successful in a claim for £8 17s, the balance owing for repairs executed by him on a car owned by William Duthie, a manufacturer, of Wellington. The statement of claim showed that the total charge for the repairs was £2B 17s, of which the defendant had paid only £2O. The defendant appeared and disputed the claim, but was not represented i by counsel. , POSSESSION CLAIM ADJOURNED ' After hearing evidence in a claim by ; K. J. B. Harbour, a carpenter, of Christ- , church, and M, H. R. Harbour, his wife i (Mr W. F. Tracy), against D. W. Hussey, ( a gardener (Mr W. G. P. Cjiningham). for possession of a dwelling-house at 141 ( Geraldine street, the Magistrate adjourned 1 the case sine die. The claim was made ’ on the ground of greater hardship. I The defendant said he was the caretaker and gardener at Abberley Park, 1 which was only a short distance away J from his home. The City Council had 1 called tenders for the erection of a caretaker’s house at the park, which required ! his attention on seven days a week. He ' had lived in the house for 16 years, and ! was at present paying 19s a week rent. ! When he had bought the house, he had ( understood that there would be some , difficulty in obtaining possession, said the c plaintiff. ] JUDGMENT SUMMONSES ' On judgment summonses, D.
