Members of the Cabinet stood in silence yesterday as a mark of respect to a former leader of the National Party and a former Minister, Mr Adam Hamilton who died last week. Tributes were paid by members to their former colleague and a resolution of sympathy with Mrs Hamilton was passed.— (P.A.)
The Rt. Rev. Charles D. T. Shores. Regionary Bishop of the Liberal Catholic Church in India, who has been visiting his brother, Mr H. Shores, of Auckland, will arrive in Christchurch on May 9 for a brief stay. Bishop Shores, a widely-travelled Englishman and a man of many interests, has lived for the last 12 years in India. He is a member of the international executive of the world headquarters of the Theosophical Society, Adyar, Madras.
The chairman of the British Labour Party (Mr H. Earnshaw) will leave Wellington to-day on a tour of the South Island, where he will address branches of the Labour Party. Next week he will visit Palmerston North. Rotorua, Hamilton, Whangarei, and Auckland. He will leave for Britain on Tuesday, May 20.—(P.A.) Mr P. D. Clancy, a member of the staff of the Supreme Court, Christchurch, has been appointed Registrar of the Supreme Court at Hokitika.
Mr H. M. Denton, formerly of Christchurch, and now traffic manager of Tasman Empire Airways, Ltd., at Auckland, left by British Commonwealth Pacific Airlines yesterday to attend a traffic conference of the International Air Transport Association at Buenos Aires.
