LABOURER REMANDED AT TIMARU Hector McDonald Forbes, a labourer, aged 41, was remanded until Thursday in the Timaru Magistrate’s Court yesterday on a charge of stealing two rugs valued at £7. the property of Gordon Boyle. Messrs G. E. Davies and R. J. Runciman, Justices of the Peace, were on the Bench. Forbes, and Boyle, who worked with Forbes, had visited a hotel in Kurow last Friday, and had drunk together, said Detective-Sergeant F. Hearsey. When Boyle left the bar two rugs which he left in the passageway were missing, and Forbes had disappeared. When questioned by the police Forbes admitted the theft, saying that his action had been caused by the amount of liquor he had drunk, said Detective-Sergeant Hearsey.
