“N.Z. COUNTING ON 12 MATCHES”

MR A. ST. C. BELCHER’S COMMENT

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 22. The New Zealand Rugby Union would be disappointed at the suggestion of the Australian Rugby Union that Its tour of the Dominion this year be restricted to eight matches. The New Zealand Union had ben counting on the usual 12-match tour, said the chairman of the executive of the New Zealand Union (Mr A. St. C. Belcher) to-day. He was under the Impression that the Australian season was virtually over In August and September, and that was why the Australians had been invited to tour in these months. Mr Belcher added that the tour would be discussed by the New Zealand Council at its meeting in Wellington on April 30.
