TRAP SHOOTING

ELLESMERE CLUB OPENS SEASON Fine weather favoured the opening shoot of the 1952 season, held by the Ellesmere Gun Club on its ground at Leeston. There was a fair attendance. In the main match, at 15 clay birds, for ■ trophy given by the president (Mr F. Alexander), possibles were scored by W. L. Gabbie and G. Holmes, the former making all his breaks with the first barrel. Gabbie took the trophy and Holmes first money in the accompanying sweep. Second, third, and fourth money was shared by F. L. Graham, F. Amyes, and G. M. Scott, each with 14 on. There were 23 competitors. Seven competitors with possibles divided the money in a five-bird eye-opener. They were R. G. Allan, F. Alexander, E. Bearman, W. Tyson, C. C. Skinner, A. A. Greenwood, and E. G. Amyes. The stake in a 10-bird sweep was shared by F. Alexander, E. S. McGill. W. Winchester, jun.. and W. H. Winchester, all with possibles.
