POTATOES FROM TASMANIA

PRICE £34 A TON (NJt. Preu Auociation—Catwrlght) HOBART, March 27. A consignment of 3000 tons of Tasmanian potatoes, totalling 45,000 bags, has been sold to New Zealand at £34 a ton f.o.b. and will be shipped from the north-west coast port of Burnie within the next 10 days. Announcing this, the chairman of the Tasmanian Potato Advisory Committee (Mr C. G. Wragg), says it will be the largest single shipment from Tasmania since the war. Six gangs of watersiders will be required to load the potatoes on the Union Company vessel Waiana. The consignment will comprise Brownells and Bismarcks. Growers have been instructed to pay particular attention to the grade and quality of the potatoes and the condition of the sacks.
