OBITUARY

MRS E. R. MACFARLANE The death occurred yesterday of Mrs Emma Rose Maefarlane, mother of the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr R. M. Maefarlane, M.P.).- Mrs Macfarlane, who had been in poor health for some time, lived in Berry street, St. Albans. She took no part in public affairs. The Mayor cancelled his engagements for yesterday and for to-day. when the funeral is to be held. Mrs Maefarlane had been a widow for manv years. She is survived by three sons—Messrs R. M. Maefarlane, M.P., H. W. Maefarlane, and R. E. Maefarlane—and three daughters, Mrs R. Crawford. Mrs N. Stockhouse, and Miss I. Maefarlane, all of Christchurch.
