SYDNEY YOUTH CARNIVAL

CHINESE DELEGATES BARRED

(Rec. 8 p.m.) SYDNEY, March 4. The Minister of Immigration (Mr E. H- Holt) said to-day that the British Communist Party chairman, Mr Willie Qaljacher, who will arrive in Sydney by the liner Orion next Monday, will be allowed to land but 28 Chinese delegates to the Youth Carnival for Peace and Friendship will not. , Mr Holt has ruled that subject to security and other checks, no restriction should be placed on the entry into Australia of a British subject. The position could be revised if such a subject engaged in activities in Australia imperilling security. Recently, on the recommendation of security officers, Australia banned the entry of Chinese tourists from the Asian mainland. This ban will be applied to the Chinese delegation.
