CARNIVAL AT DARFIELD The newly-formed swimming club at Darfield held a carnival recently. Members of the Phillipstown Club competed at the carnival. Senior Diving.—Mavis Demmocks 1, Margaret Crulckshank 2, Frank Stace 3. Junior Diving.—Robert Scott 1. Andrew Findlay 2, John Crulckshank 3. AUSTRALIAN RECORD TO BARRY DARKE SYDNEY, March 2. Barry Darke to-day broke the Australian mile swimming record of 23 years standing by 7.Bsec, at the North Sydney Olympic pool. Darke’s time was 20min 59sec. The record was previously held by Arne Borg.
