ACCIDENTS'
MAN DIES FROM INJURIES James Alexander Callaghan, aged 66, a retired farmer, of 372 Armagh street, died in the Christchurch Public Hospital yesterday morning. Mr Callaghan was admitted to the hospital on Sunday, afternoon with severe injuries suffered when the car he was driving struck a pole on the Oxford road about two miles west of Rangiora. His wife, Mrs Sarah Jane Callaghan, aged 77. was killed in the accident. Inquests into both deaths were opened yesterday before the Coroner, Mr Raymond Ferner. Evidence of identification was given and the inquests were adjourned to March 12 at Rangiora. MAN FALLS OFF ROOF Injuries to his back were suffered by Mr John Reilly, of 36 Lytton street, when he fell off a roof in Stanley street yesterday morning. He was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital, where his condition early this morning was reported to be satisfactory. PINNED UNDERNEATH HORSE (From Our Own' Reporter) GERALDINE, March 3. Ivan Keast, aged 24, a son of Mr and Mrs F. G. Keast, of Geraldine, suffered a serious injury to a foot when a horse he was breaking-in on Ben McLeod Station, on Friday, slipped 18 feet down a hill and pinned him underneath. After receiving medical attention he was taken to the Timaru Public Hospital by the Geraldine St. John Ambulance. His condition yesterday was reported to be satisfactory but there was a danger of his losing the look . .
