Microwave Speed Detector The first 21 prosecutions in New Zealand on the basis of the evidence of the microwave speed detector used by the Transport Department, were heard in the Magistrate’s Court at Foxton this week before Mr R. M. Grant, S.M. The 21 cases went through in 30 minutes. None was defended. Eighteen were against drivers and three were against motor-cyclists. With the exception of one driver who had driven past the check point on the main road at Foxton at excessive speed twice in the same day, each driver was fined £2. The double offender was fined £3.
Electric Range by Air.—An electric range was among the freight which the Skymaster carried across the Taaman Sea to Melbourne yesterday. Manufactured in the South Island, the range was a trade sample. The Skymaster brought 48 passengers to Harewood yesterday and carried 43 back to Melbourne.
