OIL OPERATIONS IN PERSIA

Rec. 7.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, February 7.

The World Bank announced to-day that it was sending a top-level mission to Persia to continue discussions on proposals for a resumption of oil operations in Persia. From London it is reported that the British Government is sending a mission of high officials, headed by Sir Roger Makins, Under-Secretary in charge of Economic Affairs in the Foreign Office, to topr the rich oilbearing areas of the Persian Gulf. The mission will leave next Tuesday for about a month.

In Bagdad, the Iraqi Minister of Economics (Abdul Majid Mahmoudi to-dav signed the recently-reached oil agreement between the Iraqi Government and the Iraqi Petroleum Company. under which the Government and the company will share the profits equally. The Minister announced that the new agreement would be submitted to Parliament for ratification on Saturday.
