U.S. BUYERS PLEASED WITH LODESTARS FORMER UNITS OF N.A.O FLEET (From Our Own Reporter) - i WELLINGTON, Jan. » Congratulations have been received by the National Airways Corporate* from the United States on the cofr dition of the Lodestar aircraft formerly in its fleet, which have delivered to their American Mg* chasers. So satisfied are the Amtecans with the standard of JW Zealand workmanship that they htf* asked the corporation to overhaul the Wright Cyclone engines ih w Lodestars before delivery. Mr F. M. Clarke, general manager of the corporation, said to-day that wt corporation was gratified by testimony to New Zealand craftsineß. and had consented to the American request; The fourth Lodestar to be delivered left New Zealand nn January 16 in command of Captain J. H. Register,« Christchurch, who had as his co-piW Captain R. D. Daniel. The pilots of the other aircraft which have been delivered were Captains J. Walker, J. N. Jackson, and Peter Matheson. Six further deliveries are to W; made. The next aeroplane will depart in February. Another will leave early in March, and the rest at regular intervals thereafter. Captain F. Allen will be the rilm of the plane to leave next month, bw the other crews have not yet been selected. The aeroplanes are all flying fro« New Zealand by way of Fiji, Canton Island. Honolulu, and San Francis Wt. to Los Angeles. Mr Clarke said that, considering age of the machines, all of wbW dated from about 1943-44. the ne* owners had expressed pleasure at the splendid condition in which the craft had been delivered. All MJ completed many thousands of hour* flying.
