UNITED NATIONS

CONFERENCE PLEDGES SUPPORT “Recognising that the seeds of war, fear, poverty, disease, and ignorance can be eradicated by the united efforts of the peoples of all nations, we hereby pledge ourselves wholeheartedly to support and to strengthen in every possible way the United Nations and the specialised agencies,” says a statement issued at the conclusion of the sixth conference of the Pan-Pacific Women’s Association in Christchurch yesterday. “We believe," says the statement, “that this can be done most effectively by urging that our respective Governments shall upon all occasions carry out the decisions of the United Nations. We as individuals rededicate ourselves to this end.” The association, at its conferences, does not pass resolutions but-the statement was unanimously endorsed by delegates.
