Brilliant Blind Scholar.— Leah Wilson, aged 17, gained first-class honours in the leaving certificate examinations. The Minister of Education (Mr R. J. Heffron) sent her congratulations on the “outstanding scholastic achievement of the year,” and advised her that she had been granted a special scholarship for the teachers’ college. She has worked under the greatest difficulties. as she cannot use textbooks, and has had to rely on memory in her studies, for the leaving certificate. Neither , could she read Mr Heffron's telegram.
