The weather forecast for Canterbury issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 27 hours after the time of issue, is;— Situation: pressures remain high to the north-east. A low pressure trough is moving north-east over the South Island. Forecast: moderate to strong northerly winds, turning west to south-west later in the day; weather cloudy with rain, heavy for a time, in the ranges; some scattered light rain elsewhere; mild temperatures. Outlook for Tuesday: fair. WEST COAST The following is the forecast for the West Coast of the South Island:— Moderate to strong northerly winds, tending south-westerly In the south later; weather cloudy to overeast, ■ with rain, heavy at times; some improvement in the south later in the day; moderate temperatures. Outlook for Tuesday: occasional showers. Christchurch weather . The weather in Christchurch yesterday was fine and sunny, with a moderate north-east wind.
