The Queen Charlotte representative, Neville Vercoe, in his yacht Seabee, handled the heavy conditions well this afternoon to win the fourth race. Second was G. Newby, Blockhouse Bay, and third place went to the Paremata Yacht Club’s skipper, H. Saunders. The holder of the cup, J. Gilpin, Tauranga, was fourth

The race started over a triangular course In a light northerly breeze. This freshened considerably and provided conditions favouring the heavier skippers. There were several capsizes and withdrawals from the race. The lightest skipper. Gilpin, sailed really well, as did the youngest competitor, Tony Littlejohn, of Huntly, who did well to finish the course. Results:—
