AERO AND MOTOR-CYCLE CLUBS’ PAGEANT
(New Zealand Press Association) TAURANGA, January 12. There was an attendance of about 2000 at the Tauranga combined Aero and Motor-cycle Clubs' pageant, held at the Tauranga Aerodrome to-day. Showers made the track slightly slippery for the first race and the course, which included two sharp bends and several fast straights, was in a difficult condition for riding. M. Hearn (Mangakino). Velocette, crashed on the first bend in the first lap, but was unhurt. L. Perry (Auckland), Velocette, led until the thirteenth lap. but had to retire with engine trouble. Results:— 350 c.c. Scratch Race (15 Laps).—J. Flavell (Whakatane), Velocette, 1; D. Winks (Auckland), Velocette, 2; F. Anderson (Ohinewai), 88. A., 3. Time, 13 mln 3 2-ssec.
New Zealand 500 c.c. Miniature T.T. Championship, 25 Laps.—L. Perry (Auckland). J.A.P., 1; A. J. Dean (Tauranga), Triumph, 2: E. M. Staite (Tauranga), Triumph, 3. L. Simpson (Whakatane) retired with a knee injury. The back straight proved rough and tricky, riders trailing their feet as in speedway racing. Clubman’s Handican(ls Laps).—G. Allan (Gisborne), 500 c.c. Triumph (30sec), 1; Morice (Johnsonville), 500 c.c. B5_A. (15 sec), 2; S. Trebes (Hamilton), 100 c.c. B.SA. (lOsec). X Time, 13min 32 l-ssec.
