CHRISTMAS FOURS TOURNEY POST-SECTION PLAY ! BEGUN At the end of the eighth game in the 1 Christchurch Bowling Centre’s Christmas tournament, which was continued on Sati urday, 14 fours had qualified for postsection play. The Edgeware four, skipped by J. B. Benson, won eight games. Fendalton (W. i. Dailey), R.S.A. (C. Spearman), and Bel- ? last (H. Deavoll) each won seven games. Winners of six games were Elmwood (E. •• J. Hatherley), Sydenham (F. B. Hickman), •• Beckenham (A. Harrison), R.S.A. (H. Hirst). Canterbury (A. Rennie). Sydenham ’• (R. Chisholm), Linwood (E. G. Bennett). Hornby (H. S. Kibblewhite). St. Albans (H. Leopold), and Sumner (A. S. Taylor). The original entry was 56 teams. u The first round of post-section play and one game in the second round were also „ played on Saturday. Benson and Dailey drew byes in the first round, and in the second round Benson beat Dailey, 27-14. Following are results of games in the first round of po-t-section play:—Howson 19. SOUTH CANTERBURY TOURNAMENT J. O’ROURKE WINS PAIRS WITH LAST BOWL (From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU December 30. J. O'Rourke (Papanui) beat A. S. Craw- ; ford (North-east Valley) with his iMt I bowl to win the pair, championship, on the last day of the South Canterbury I Bowling Centre's Christmas tournament J In Tlmaru yesterday. Both skips drew the shot with their last bowl, and l O'Rourke, having the last bowl, won the match In the most exciting finish of tne da A N. Bromley (Beckenham) and J. Gib- ' son (Beckenham) met in the finals of the singles championship. Bromley vanning 24-8. The winner of the chamtoonship last year, A. L. Hawkes <Kla .Toa) had lost only one game at the end of the sixth round, in which he was beaten 22-6 . by J. S. Crawford (North-east Valley). ■ P c.
