ZONING OF MILK ROUNDS
ATTITUDE OF VENDORS’ ASSOCIATION Tight zoning of milk in Christchurch —one vendor to one zone—is favoured by the Canterbury Milk Vendors’ Association, according to a letter received from the association by the Christchurch Metropolitan Milk Board at meeting yesterday. At present consumers have’ a choice of four to five vendors in one area. Vendors have their original ±one and can supply customers in others by request. According to the association’s letter a resolution in favour of tight was carried at a meeting of whicn notice was given to all milk vendor! in the Milk Board’s area. The meeting was called to determine the wishes 01 the trade before the board made wy alteration in the present system. Another resolution carried was that the zoning committee should be to arrange as nearly as practicable that vendors drawing from the same treating house be grouped, that producer vendors be grouped, and that vendors operating tneir own treating houses be grouped. ... The chairman of the board (Mr w. P. Warner) reported to members tnat a questionnaire was being sent to v en " dors to obtain detailed information about zones and the number of pin« delivered in each street. That wai fiyst step before any rezoning.
