NEW GENERAL MANAGER IN DOMINION

LONDON, Dec. 6. The appointment of Mr J. B. Price as general manager of the Shell Oil Company of New Zealand is announced in London. He is the first member of the New Zealand staff of the company to be given this position, although the present general manager. Mr N. H. Smith, is a New Zealander by birth. Mr Price was born at Greymouth and was educated at the Timaru Boys’ High School and Canterbury University College, where he studied law. He joined the Shell Company in 1928 and was branch manager at Wellington before coming to the London head office of the company in April this year. During the war he served with the special duties branch of the Royal New Zealand Air Force in the Dominion and in Mthe Pacific, holding the rank of wing commander on demobilisation.
Mr Price will take up hig new appointment in March, ana will leave for New Zealand by air early in the New Year. His wife and two daughters will follow by sea. Mr Smith will come to London, but his next appointment has not yet been disclosed.
