ASHBURTON FARM SOLD
PRICE OF £B5 AN ACRE sum £42.421, representing £B5 an acre, was paid for a farm on the eastern boundary of the Ashburton borough, at a public auction held at Ashburton yesterday. The purchaser was Mr J. G. Marshall, of “Balrazie.’’ Rakaia. The property, of 499 acres and 13 perches, was purchased from Miss Jane Chalmers by the late Mr T. Langley in 1920. and was held by his two daughters. Miss Hannah Langley and Mrs Ella Connolly (Ashburton) at the time of the sale.
Bidding began at £65 and rose by £5 bids to £BO. then by sums of £1 to £B4. The final figure of £B5 was reached by two bids of 10s. Another auction sale of a farm of 242 acres, owned bv the estate of E. V. Read (Eiffelton). wap held at Ashburton yesterday. Bidding opened at £3O an acre, and the property wa« sold to Mr A. Davison for £47 an acre.
