Government Decides To Resign
_ DAMASCUS, November 10. The Syrian Government, headed by Hassan Hakim, resigned to-day. The Hakim Government has faced * political crisis for the last week differences on the Syrian attitude 10 the Middle East defence scheme. Mr Hakim last week-end declared “at the proposed Middle East pact Would be favourable to the Arab gates, but his Foreign Minister (Mr **ydi Atassi) has been reported as „°uring a rejection of the pact Political observers believe that the “ajority of the Cabinet supported him. M «r Hakim, submitting the resignayw, said that the reason was the re2®t foreign policy statement by Mr E®ydi Atassi, which bitterly criticised Western policy and which had not "*n approved by Cabinet
