OBITUARY
MR A. C. LEARY (New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, October 23. The death has occurred in Dunedin of Mr Arthur Cooper Leary, for many years a prominent figure in provincial and national fanning circles. Mr Leary was 74. Mr Leary farmed a property near Evans Flat for almost 50 years. He was a member of the Tuapeka County Council for many years, and a former chairman. He was an executive mem* her of the Otago branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union for more than 20 years. He was president of the provincial branch in 1924-25, and also served on the Dominion executive. He had been a director of the Farmers Mutual Insurance Association since 1920. and was its chairman from 1937 to 1949. He was a director of the Farm Accounting Association of New Zealand from the time of its incorporation until his death, and was deputy-chairman of the Dominion Fertiliser Company, Ltd. During the. Second World War Mr Leary gave' outstanding service aa chairman of the Otago Primary Production Council.
