BRITISH SEIZE RAILWAYS

TROOPS MOVE IN NEAR SUEZ CAIRO, October 23. A large British armed force, spearheaded by 20 tanks, seized the railway Stations, arsenal, and other installations on the outskirts of Suez. The Governor of Suez (Ibrahim Zaki Elkholi Bey) is quoted as saying that the British force had moved id, cutting off tire city’s railway communications With Cairo and Ismailia. Th* Associated Press quotes reports that the railway seizure was aimed at enforcing the British ultimatum call* tog on Egyptian dock workers and pilots to get back to work. The British soldiers occupied the switchpoints on the railway running from the British military port of Adabit, south of Suez, to the British camps farther inland. The Associated Frees correspondent adds that the British appear to be clamping down on Egyptian traffic all along the canal.
