WOOL SUPPORT PLAN
FEDERATED FARMERS’ APPROVAL
FLOOR PRICE SYSTEM FAVOURED

WELLINGTON, October 23. Districts of Federated Farmers throughout New Zealand are substantially in favour of a trial of toe New Zealand Wool Board’s price plan for wool marketing. The districts of the federation were asked to forward their recommendations on the plan. These have now been received, and while they reveal limited support for the details of toe scheme as put to farmers, they indicate a general desire to have some floor price plan in, operation. Only one district—Wairarapa—has recorded an outright opinion against the scheme.".
The Wool Board’s plan, to which the Government will give legislative effect this session, involves a minimum floor price for wool sold at auction. This minimum price yrill be guaranteed by a wool marketing organisation which will supplement the payment to growers Where the auction price goes below the minimum.
The minimum proposed for the coming season is 24a per lb.
