WOOL POOL
Si?,—Mr Jamieson’s reply to your article on wool funds of October 6 is unsatisfactory and unconvincing. He advances many and specious reasons for the scheme. Can he advance one reason why those who will be compelled to pay for the scheme are not being given a chance of voting on it? Why do we lag so far behind Australia in elementary democratic principles? Most woolgrowers would much rather have the money frozen in their own banks than see it frittered away by any board. In your statement you say that woolgrowers ■would do well to look carefully at the scheme before committing themselves to it. Can you tell us what we can do about it? We are not accepting the scheme; it is being thrust upon us by a handful of men who could scarcely be termed disinterested. Mr Holland should do the right thing by the woolgrowers.—Yours, etc., GRAZIER. October 23, 1951.
