N.Z. BAND’S TOUR OF BRITAIN
KEEN INTEREST SHOWN IN PROJECT (New Zealand Press Association)
WELLINGTON. October 23. British band authorities and bands* men were keenly interested in the proposed visit by a New Zealand brass band next year, said Mr E. Ormrod, secretary of the New Zealand Brass Bands' Association, who has returned from a four weeks' trip to Britain.
A public appeal for funds in aid of the trip would soon be launched and the 'selection of conductor and members would soon be made. The band would be a blending of youth and experience, but youth would predominate. There would be more than 30 in the party, which would leave next May and spend 12 to 14 weeks in England. Mr Cvmrod added that some bands in New Zealand compared very favourably with the top bands in England. He found that bands in England would like to return the visit
