First-aid Nurses In Schools
An attempt is to be made by the New Zealand Technical Education Association to have first-aid nurses appointed in large schools. There was no intention of having nurses doing doctors’ work, said Mr G. W. C. Drake, of Otahuhu. at the annual conference of the association at Wellington yesterday. It was urgently necessary that they be appointed, he said. There would be no difficulty in getting suitable nurses locally to avoid taking them from the hospitals. According to the results of a questionnaire set out in a report at the conference it was shown that medical work was now being done by teachers, with a consequent decrease in teaching time.— (PJL)
