Dr. Mussadiq Tries To Calm Crowd

(Rec. 1.10 a.m.) TEHERAN, Sept 27. The Persian Prime Minister (Dr. Mussadiq) to-day pleaded with an anti-British crowd of about 2000 outside Parliament Buildings not jo cry for the death of the British.

“Don’t say 'Death to them’,” the Prime Minister implored. “They are our friends. Say instead, ‘May God Almighty guide England’.” After he had made his appeal for ealm the Prime Minister ana many people in the crowd burst into tears. Dr. Mussadiq had brought on the outburst of anti-British sentiment by telling the crowd that the AngloIranian Oil Company had paid Persia only £110,000.000 in oil royalties and taxes in the last 40 years. “Let us kill!” the crowd screamed. “Let us shed blood. Death to the British.’

Before Dr. Mussadiq made hii address the Majlis (the Lower House of Parliament) for the sixth successive time failed to give him a vote of confidence on his oil programme. As at previous sessions, the Prime Minister was unable to secure a quorum for the vote.
