The Teheran correspondent of the “Daily Herald” says that the Persian Army was ordered to stand by throughout the Khuzistan oil province last night and was told to blow up all oil installations—including the Abadan refinery in the event of foreign troops attempt* jng to land.
These instructions were issued immediately after a meetjag last night of the Persian Defence Board, presided over bv Dr. Mussadiq. J
The “Daily Mail” says that Mr Attlee last night sent a special message to Mr Truman asking direct American intervention in the oil dispute.
The British Cabinet, will meet to-day to decide if Britain will resist Dr. Mussadiq s expulsion of the 300 British technicians remaining m Abadan.
It is believed that Mr Attlee would prefer America to threaten economic sanctions which would immediately affect the Persian economy.
