The reason for Western urgency is the expectation that acceptance will r . the *ay for West Germany’s coni tribution to the European Artny, and for putting into effect the Schuman Plan for a common trading area for : the coal, iron and steel resources of six Western European nations. Aside from Germany and Korea the ministers plan to tackle such problems as admitting Greece and Turkey into the North Atlantic Alliance, a settlement for Trieste, Italy’s plea for the revision of her peace treaty, Spain’s relations with the West, the Persian oil crisis, and the Communist threat to Indo-China.
