MILK BOARD MEETING
ABSENCE OF TWO M.P.’S
MISS HOWARD’S REPLY TO MR GREEN
Remarks made by Mr J. W. Green at last Month’s meeting of the Christchurch Metropolitan Milk Board after apologies for absence had been received from Miss Mabel Howard, M.P, and Mr J. Mathison. M.P., were described by Miss Howard at a meeting of the board yesterday as “quite uncalled for” arid "unwise.” At the last meeting of the board Mr Green was reported as saying: “I am very busy, too. but I made it my business to turn up. . . . They’re connected With this board, why don’t they turn up?”As the chairman (Mr W. P. Warner) was late for the meeting yesterday Miss Howard took the chair. When an apology for absence was received from Mr Green Miss Howard said: "Does anyone know where Mr Green is?” Miss Howard then said she wanted to refer to the remarks made by Mr Green at the last meeting of the board. “I think the remarks passed by Mr Green were quite uncalled for,” she said. “He took advantage of a political situation and made political capital out of it.” Mrs T. Green: I was not at the last meeting of the board because I was unwell.
"It was not Mrs Green he was aiming at. He was aiming at the two politicians on the board. It was quite uncalled for.” Miss Howard said.
