Sir, —Since all iodine is, if my information be correct, of “natural origin; since the iodine added to salt is, in the view of the Health Department, harmless, not to say beneficial; and since the iodine of medicine, accumulated in sufficient quantities, is lethal, would our good Medical Officer of Health kindly make clear in what manner the two varieties come to exercise influences so diverse?—Yours, etc., NEMO.
