AMERICAN GRANT TO N.Z. JOURNALIST

STUDY IN UNITED STATES

“The Press" Special Service WELLINGTON. September 9.

The American Embassy has announced that Mr Eric Ramsden, of the “Evening Post," Wellington, has accepted an invitation from the Department of State to visit the United States.

Mr Ramsden, who has specialised in Maori and Polynesian history, hopes to inspect collections of Pacific material in the United States and Hawaii, and also to study race relations and visit leading newspapers. The grant to Mr Ramsden was awarded under the authority of United States Public Law 402, which provides funds for visits to the United States by overseas leaders in various fields. Mr Ramsden will leave Whenuapai for Washington by air on September 20, and will return to New Zealand in January.
